        La Mesa lies directly to the east of the City of San Diego. The area has grown from a sleepy agricultural community into a thriving city of 60,000 residents who enjoy its rolling hills and gorgeous views. La Mesa observes an average of 301 days of sunshine per year, with temperatures in the low 40's to high 70's in the winter months, and low 50's to low 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months. La Mesa is ideally situated only "Five Minutes" from San Diego State University, and Grossmont Community College.The city operates 14 beautiful parks, a municipal pool and numerous tennis courts. This gives all La Mesa residents quite a wealth of recreational choices. There are many activities to enjoy here, from relaxed to action-packed. The La Mesa Village Farmer's Market is a tradition on Friday afternoons in the Allison Avenue parking lot off of Spring Street. Between 3:00p.m. and 6:00 p.m., rain or shine, shoppers can select from the freshest fruits and vegetables, an abundance of flowers, organically grown produce, breads, popcorn, preserves, dips and many other specialties.

The Village is the historical center of La Mesa. Many of the surrounding buildings remain as they were in 1912 when the City of La Mesa was incorporated. La Mesa Boulevard features many one-of-a-kind retail shops, antique stores and great places to dine.

Hooked on golf? Take a drive over to the Sun Valley Golf Course at 5080 Memorial Drive. The 9 hole course is a public facility with tees available for golfers of all abilities.

The San Diego Zoo is located on Zoo Drive in Balboa Park, just north of downtown San Diego along Park Boulevard and is home to some of the rarest animals in the world including giant pandas and koalas.
